What have you learnt from your audience feedback?

For feed back on our main product I have posted our Trailer onto my Facebook page and Twitter this is allowing people that I would know to have a look at the trailer and to leave some comments on what they thought about the product. Our trailer is aimed at female peer groups of an average age of 16-20, by posting this on my Facebook and Twitter I was able to gain comments back from my age range, being the target audience for this film. The trailer has also been uploaded onto YouTube, this means that people worldwide can view the product when they type in "EastNorfolkMedia Childminder", this also means that people can leave feedback on the product. Although both of these are good ways to get feedback, the feedback that can be got back from them can be simplistic, unless they have knowledge on Media and/or Films. So to gain the best criticism the trailer was screened within the class where we received a constructive criticism on the trailer.

Positive Feedback

We gain positive feedback on the product such as the use of the music box at the end of the trailer was a nice touch and that it fitted in with the choice of actors that we had use and they thought that the use of children was good within the horror trailer and it adds the originality to the trailer. The use of the field and the use of the woods was said to make the audience feel that they could relate to the characters within the trailer and it was said that there was a good use of enclosed space compared to the open space of the field.

Negative Feedback

Throughout the trailer the thing that was most pick up on was the use of the effect BadTV within the trailer and it was thought to have been used to much. Another thing that was brought up was the lack of dialog within the trailer, although the actors that we had used were talking during the scenes that were used there was no dialog there, but if added to this would be the first thing that would have to be done, as the dialog is a massive part of the trailer. The pace at the start of the trailer was thought to be too slow, but the pace throughout the trailer was a well pace piece of video. A small thing that some of the people picked up on was at the end, on the end title, where the blood is splattered onto the title, this was thought to be too slow and too jumpy.

Neutral Feedback

As for neutral feedback the group thought that the use of the doll wasn't clear through the trailer, but this was then explained by us, in which they agree, that the use of the doll within the trailer got them asking the question where does it fit into the film, another point that was brought up was there was no hint towards the movies narrative, but again we said this was done to the point that it makes you think about the film and ask questions, like where does that fit in? or why was that there?.

As a trailer itself the overall feedback that we receive was very positive towards it, but there were some comments that although the trailer was good as a whole it doesn't make sense in ways of narrative, as they didn't understand were the doll fitted into the whole plot, but that is the point in a trailer, to make the audience want to know more about the film and where things fit in with the story line. And in terms of the trailer being a trailer for a horror film we gain neutral feedback about the product, they could neither tell whether the film was a horror film or just a typically plain film, with this in mind many horrors trailers, including my groups, only have quick shots of horror moments that could happen within the film. Overall I think that the feedback that we gain was good in term of the trailer, although there could have been more horror moments within the trailer. Although we gained this feedback my group did not make any changes to the product.

  1. Again this is underdeveloped. You should really consider the positives and negatives of the product as a example of horror, and also as an example of a trailer. You need more detail and also to explain what you think about the criticism. Did you make any changes as a result of it?
